Greetings friends and family! You were on my mind all day even though I am so far away. I am so thankful for all of your support and encouragement. I love you and miss you.

I decided that I should not let Thanksgiving go by without some sort of celebration so I invited a few folks over for a potluck. (I also wanted to make sure I wasn't eating a papaya in my room alone, missing my family and feeling sorry for myself). When I started asking folks if they wanted to come I was surprised that a lot of people were not interested, but in the end we had a nice litte crowd of five americans and one Indian yogini. Indian ThanksgivingI made vegan mashed potatoes and gravy (my friend Jennifer is vegan and I wanted to make sure she could eat some). They turned out a little gummy because I had to use a hand blender to "mash" them (not gonna happen with a dinner fork). The rest of the menu included sweet potatoes, mixed veggirs, rice, curry, carrot bread, and plum cake. Not exactly an American style meal but a fun get together nonetheless. There are more pictures on the photo tab if you are interested.

The rest of my was pretty mellow, which is how most days are here. Practice Yoga, eat breakfast, go to market to buy food, hang out with friends, eat dinner. My practice today was much better than yesterday - I felt good throughout and was pretty focused. During Marichi D when Saraswatti was squeezing me into the pose we both heard a loud crunching noise - not sure what it was but it made her laugh and made me wonder which of my smushed parts was protesting. No permamnet damage though and felt great for the closing of my pratice.

I did not make time to study today so we'll consider Thanksgiving a day off from the Sutras. Also its late here so I am going to try and make a few quick calls and go to sleep. I need to be at practice a little after 4:30 am tomorrow.

Your feast sounds bountiful and delicious... we will think of you as we sit down to enjoy ours. (F.Y.I., I put serrano peppers in the cranberry chutney this year... yum.) We love you and miss you, and are glad that you found friends to share this important day with.
